School Crossing Guards

Part-time/On-call/Casual

The Township of Puslinch is seeking applications for the position of School Crossing Guards to serve our neighbourhood in Aberfoyle. Crossing Guards are responsible for the safe passage of pedestrians (especially students/children) at their respective crossing, stopping traffic in accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Township policies and procedures.

Ideal candidates are responsible, community-minded individuals that have their own transportation and are available to respond to various school crossing locations twice daily – mornings and dismissal shifts during the school year.  The Crossing Guards must possess strong communication skills to effectively inform students and adults of crossing rules and able to put safety first and foremost.   

School Crossing Guards work during the school year, September – June, excluding holidays and Professional Development Days in all weather conditions.   Working part-time or on an on-call/casual basis, shifts are approximately one hour in length during the morning and afternoon.  On-the-job training is provided. This position offers a range of $21.10 to $23.73 per hour (2024 Compensation Grid), working up to ten (10) hours per week. A Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement of employment.
