Heritage Plaque Program

The Township is excited to launch the Heritage Plaque Program.

The Township is committed to preserving and promoting its rich heritage. This initiative helps celebrate our shared history, strengthen community pride, and connect residents and visitors with the people, places, and stories that have shaped our community.

What is the Heritage Plaque Program?

The Heritage Plaque Program celebrates Puslinch’s designated heritage properties and the owners who help preserve our community’s history. Heritage plaques are provided at no cost to eligible property owners and participation is completely voluntary. By displaying a plaque, owners can proudly recognize their property’s heritage and help share Puslinch’s rich history with residents and visitors.

Who is eligible for this program?

Property owners designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act, 1990, are eligible for a plaque.

The heritage plaque will feature information regarding the name and occupation of the original owner, or owner of significance, as well as the year of construction.

This information will be printed on an 11″ x 18″ white aluminum composite panel (ACP) with blue vinyl graphics (see example above).

If little historical knowledge is know about the property, the Heritage Advisory Committee will assist with research. Additionally, applicants are free to conduct their own research through the Puslinch Historical Society’s resources.

Application Process

The approval of plaque applications will be complete on a first-come-first-served basis. Once an application is received, Township staff will reach out to interested applicant within ten business days for next steps. Any applicants rejected due to lack of funds will be considered priority for the following year.

NOTE: Possessing tax arrears with the Township will deem a property ineligible for plaque installation.
